In spite of my pretensions of unconditional acceptance, I admit I kind of like it when my friends spend the money I give them on something besides opioids.
I immediately wonder if people will hire Kaanan if he isn't insured. There is always tree work that needs doing, but he might need insurance. Would that be incredibly expensive? I think people would be willing to help get him covered, if it would open up jobs for him. I know I would be. Do you think a lack of insurance is inhibiting his employment?
Hi Laurie: Kaanan and I talked about that. He thought he could find homeowners who wouldn't be so concerned. I find that a bit hard to believe. I almost included the question in the post but was more curious if it'd come up. Thanks for doing so. I'm going to make some inquiries and talk to him more next time I see him.
I actually think many homeowners are terrified of being sued if someone gets hurt on their property. I teach a few horseback riding lesson, but the riders are on their own horses. They own their mounts and hire me, but I still have to have my own insurance. Their insurance companies could/would come after me, if one of them got hurt, even though they have signed a release. It is an ugly world, but if Kaanan could get insurance, I know there is work for him. I wonder what his insurance would cost? It shouldn't be ridiculously high.
I'm so glad to hear that Kaanan might be doing better. First time we talked he made a comment about my bike. Opened up to a conversation about his situation. Since then we usually at least greet each other. But he's looked more depressed the past few weeks. Maybe this will be a turnaround for him!
